Welcome to Up With Down!
The Up with Down Family Support Group is based in Des Moines, Iowa and serves over 150 families in central Iowa.
Up with Down supports families through personal contact and education, and provides a forum to express feelings and work through some of the difficulties that may arise in raising a child with Down syndrome.
The group meets regularly for informal social gatherings, as well as educational meetings. Up with Down provides local hospitals with New Parent Packets and, upon their request, personally visits new parents or contacts them by phone. The group also supplies local libraries with updated books on topics related to Down syndrome.
Up with Down is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Society, guided by a board of volunteers, and supported through fundraisers, member dues and donations.

Join us for the Up With Down Annual Family Picnic!!
Join Up With Down at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines, on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 12:30-4:30pm for our annual family picnic. We will be at Coneflower Shelter A by the playground.
Up With Down will provide the main dish and drinks, families with last names beginning with the letters A-L please bring a side dish to share, M-Z please bring a dessert to share.
There is a great playground, sand play area, and water features at this park. Bring a swim suit or dry clothes for your children! There is also a beach near by. (The beach is over a hill and not really visible, so you might be able to avoid it if you want!)

FRIENDS-Support Inc. (a Down syndrome support group in Florida) presents a very special event: an exclusive Down Syndrome awareness cruise on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines’ “Sovereign of the Seas.”
Join us for this one of a kind adventure. The 3-night Bahamian cruise will depart Port Canaveral, FL on October 17, 2008. The event is designed to provide an opportunity for families from across America to come together and bring awareness to one of the most frequently occurring chromosomal deviations, as well as promote inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome.
highlights include: Sujeet Desai, Emily Perl Kingsley (author of Welcome to Holland) will be a keynote speaker.
